Mosaic Launches FieldInSite(TM) -- A Complete, Fully-Integrated Communication and Field Management Service for Dealers and Growers

July 19, 2005

PLYMOUTH, Minn., July 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) today launched FieldInSite(TM), a web-based subscription service that helps growers make smarter farming decisions and manage their operations more profitably.

FieldInSite(TM) is a unique farm management tool that integrates essential mapping and recordkeeping features with advanced field variability, yield analysis and product application tools - all in a single, cost-effective service.

"There is no other program like it that brings all of the components of precision farming together," said Kevin Poppel, agronomy production specialist for Triangle Agronomy Services of Lake Park, Minnesota. "This service will help us differentiate our business in the marketplace because it brings clear value to growers."

The launch of FieldInSite(TM) underscores Mosaic's commitment to providing distinctive value to global agriculture through crop nutrition products and specialized services.

One of the FieldInSite(TM) service modules is the result of 15 years of extensive research and development by Mosaic in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture, Cargill, and GEOSYS, Inc., an agricultural information services provider.

With the help of FieldInSite(TM), growers can:

-- create a complete field history that can be used to plan, analyze, and
       fulfill government program requirements
-- record geo-referenced observations to manage the degree of variability
       in fields
-- define management zones in any field through the use of historical
       imagery
-- translate satellite images of crop growth into management reports that
define yield distribution in a field
-- pinpoint where to apply crop nutrients in ways that may lower overall
input costs, improve profitability, and/or increase yields
-- prescribe site-specific nutrient application plans to conserve
       resources and promote efficient fertilization

During a study in northwest Iowa, FieldInSite(TM) services from Mosaic paved the way for a 24 percent reduction in nutrient application and a 3.1 bushel/acre increase in corn yield. The added revenue to the grower in the study was $17.02/acre.

"FieldInSite(TM) is much more than just another tool for variable rate nutrient application -- it's a complete communication and field management tool that ties essential information together for growers," said Dr. Dan Froehlich, U.S. agronomy manager for Mosaic.

Initially, FieldInSite(TM) is available in the central United States. Service availability will be expanded in the United States and in selected countries by the end of the summer.

Growers can choose to subscribe to one or more FieldInSite(TM) service modules, or work through their nearest FieldInSite(TM) dealership for access to the complete service package.
